WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Texas — As North Texas recovers from tornadoes and high winds that swept through last weekend, animal shelters in Central Texas are lending a helping hand.
Gov. Greg Abbott declared a disaster for three North Texas counties — Lamar, Parker and Wise — after severe storms damaged homes and businesses. On Saturday, two tornadoes killed two people and injured several others west and northwest of Fort Worth. The declaration is expected to help with recovery efforts.
In the aftermath, the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter (WCRAS) has taken in more than a dozen dogs impacted by the storm. The shelter, which serves much of Williamson County, routinely supports animals in need, both locally and from other regions during emergencies…
