Longtime San Francisco surfer remembered after fatal Ocean Beach rescue: ‘A light in the lineup’

Friends and neighbors are remembering Sandro Britz as a longtime Bay Area surfer and beloved Sunset District resident after he died following a rescue from the waters off San Francisco’s Ocean Beach.

Britz, 55, was pulled unconscious from the surf near Lincoln Way on May 28 after lifeguards spotted a surfer signaling for help just outside the surf line, according to the San Francisco Fire Department. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition and later pronounced dead, authorities said.

His cause of death has not been released…
