Visalia hospital has ‘contingency plans’ after Bay Area warehouse fire

VISALIA, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Visalia’s Kaweah Health says there are “contingency plans” in place to ensure the hospital continues to be supplied following a massive fire at a Bay Area medical warehouse.

The fire inside Tracy’s Medline warehouse continued to burn on Friday, a day after the fire started. YourCentralValley.com’s sister station, KRON4.com, reports that the burning facility is filled with hazardous materials, including lithium-ion batteries.

Among the hospitals relying on the items in the warehouse is Kaweah Health in Visalia. In a statement to YourCentralValley.com, staff confirm that the warehouse serves as a primary source of medical-surgical supplies for the health system.

We have contingency plans in place and do not anticipate disruptions to patient care at this time. Our materials management and supply chain teams are actively coordinating with distribution and manufacturing partners to maintain uninterrupted access to the supplies our patients and care teams depend on.
