(KRON) — One of the two men who were found deceased in a large fire that gutted a Redwood City liquor store in 2025 is believed to have started the blaze, according to an investigative update released Thursday by police.
The fire fully engulfed Avenue Liquors on Roosevelt Avenue by 5:30 a.m. on Nov. 3, 2025. As Redwood City Fire Department crews worked to contain and suppress the blaze, firefighters opened a section of the roof and saw two individuals inside the store who did not show any signs of life.
The two men pronounced deceased were later identified as 56-year-old Benigno Nuguid Pare and 25-year-old Anil Kumar Sharma.
On Thursday, the Redwood City Police Department said “physical evidence, witness statements, surveillance video, and the totality of the investigation” pointed toward Pare intentionally igniting the fire…
