Two Arrested on Multiple Felonies During Traffic Stop in San Mateo

SAN MATEO, CA — “On May 4, 2026, at 8:47 p.m., a San Mateo Police Department officer conducted a traffic stop for a license plate violation in the area of Chess Drive and Bridgepointe Parkway. The driver and sole occupant, Chad Correia, was identified and found to have an outstanding misdemeanor bench warrant.

After Correia was detained, a consent search of the vehicle led to the discovery of unlawful paraphernalia; several fraudulent California driver’s licenses (CDLs) bearing Correia’s photograph; and binders and notebooks containing numerous potential victims’ personal identifying information, including Social Security numbers, CDL information, addresses, and trust and banking information.

Prior to the traffic stop, the primary officer observed an adult female, later identified as Megan McMurray, speaking with Correia inside the vehicle. An area check was conducted for McMurray, who was located hiding behind a vehicle to the rear of a nearby hotel. McMurray had two outstanding felony warrants and initially provided a false name to officers. She was detained, and two of her suitcases were located nearby. A search of the suitcases led to the discovery of methamphetamine, heroin, Xanax packaged for sale, and drug paraphernalia.
