FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Fresno State employees gathered at the Peace Garden on Tuesday to display their unity and desire for higher wages amid contract negotiations.
“We want to show the CSU (California State University) that workers, staff, and faculty make the CSU system run, and without us, the campuses would shut down,” said Tracy Bessey, organizing chair for CSUEU (California State University Employees Union).
CSUEU members make up quite a bit of Fresno State staff, from custodians to groundskeepers, counselors, and other faculty. The members gathered and marched around campus with signs detailing their desires.
Organizers say studies have shown that employees on campus are underpaid, and the Chancellor’s Office has discussed a 1% increase, but that is not quite what they are after…
