Sky Elements Drone Shows put more than 700 drones over Lake Carolyn on Friday night, July 3, headlining Sparks & Stripes, the City of Irving’s two-day celebration of America’s 250th birthday. The drones opened the night at Levy Event Plaza in Las Colinas, and a traditional fireworks finale closed it.

Eighteen months after DroneXL reported the FAA grounding of this same company, Sky Elements spent the nation’s biggest birthday weekend flying three shows in three nights across its home region.

Sparks & Stripes Opens With Drones Over Lake Carolyn

Irving ran its Independence Day celebration across two days, with the drone and fireworks night on Friday, July 3 at Levy Event Plaza on Lake Carolyn and a parade through the Heritage District plus a family festival at Heritage Park on Saturday, July 4.

Gates opened at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. A patriotic military flyover was scheduled, weather permitting, with live music from the All Funk Radio Show and country artist Coffey Anderson carrying the evening until the sky work began at 9:30 p.m., set to Independence Day-themed music.

Admission was free, and the city streamed the night on its YouTube channel. Irving hasn’t released an attendance figure for 2026 yet; last summer’s program at the same plaza drew more than 10,000 people…
