A man was shot multiple times outside an apartment in the 200 block of East Corporate Drive in Lewisville last Friday night and was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers responded around 10:40 p.m. and found the victim with multiple gunshot wounds, and his identity has not yet been released to the public.
The station’s report does not identify the victim, and it remains unclear what relationship, if any, existed between him and whoever opened fire. Detectives also have not said whether surveillance footage from the apartment complex could help identify a suspect.
Same Block Saw Gunfire Five Weeks Earlier
This is not the first time this year that gunfire has drawn Lewisville police to the same stretch of East Corporate Drive. Five weeks before the fatal shooting, officers responded on August 4 to reports of gunfire in the 200 block at the Somerset Apartments, located at 256 East Corporate Drive, according to the Irving Weekly. Officers arrested a 25-year-old man during that earlier investigation after he threatened them while being questioned about the shooting.
The corridor has a grim history tied to gun violence. In February 2019, 51-year-old clerk Ashraf Lakhani was shot and killed during an overnight robbery at a Valero gas station on East Corporate Drive, an investigation that later led to capital murder charges against two men, as reported by CBS News Texas. East Corporate Drive includes a mix of commercial and apartment developments in southern Lewisville.
