Medical City Denton Debuts New $8 Million Cardiovascular Care Unit

Medical City Denton has debuted an $8 million cardiovascular intensive care unit to expand specialty cardiac services. The new 8-bed unit is designed to care for patients recovering from open-heart surgery, advanced heart failure, and complex vascular procedures, increasing access to high-acuity cardiovascular treatment in North Texas. The dedicated CICU features advanced monitoring and treatment technology to improve outcomes for critically ill cardiac patients while strengthening the hospital’s role in specialized care. The investment comes as health systems continue to expand cardiovascular services to meet rising demand driven by population growth and aging demographics. Medical City Denton said the unit will enhance its ability to deliver complex care locally, reducing the need for patients to travel outside the region. Parkland Health has expanded its hospital capacity with 112 new beds to meet growing demand in Dallas County. The expansion will add two inpatient units over the next six months, with 56 beds opening in June and another 56 expected in October, increasing total capacity to more than 980 licensed beds. The new units are being built in previously unused shell space to improve patient flow, reduce emergency department wait times, and support care for a rapidly growing population.
