North Phoenix collision kills 1

Phoenix police detectives have taken over a deadly crash investigation involving three vehicles late Friday night in north Phoenix.

Officers were called to the scene just before midnight Jan. 26 at 45 th Street and Greenway Road where they found Jaime Trevino, 26, suffering from serious injuries. He died at the scene of the collision, police said.

Detectives learned Trevino was driving west on Greenway Road when he veered into oncoming traffic and struck an SUV operated by a woman going east, according to a Phoenix Police Department release.

The SUV then collided with a third car as it came to a stop, police said.

All occupants from the third car ran from the scene prior to police arrival.

The woman driving the SUV was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and showed no signs of intoxication, police said.

The investigation continues.
