Phoenix plans tougher water cuts as Colorado River crisis grows

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — The city of Phoenix is planning substantial water conservation measures ahead of expected cuts to the Valley’s share of water from the Colorado River.

The federal government is expected to make deeper cuts before the end of the year since Arizona, neighboring states and tribes were not able to agree on a new plan to rein in water use.

The city’s Stage Two water warning will likely come with a cost, though how much is still uncertain. How much water the federal government will cut from the state supply also remains unclear.
