Over the holiday weekend I ended up passing through the Breton Village area with my husband on the way to a local greenhouse. It’s one of those stretches of Grand Rapids you don’t think much about until you suddenly realize how different it looks from even a few years ago!

Former Rite Aid Property Gets New Life

One of the biggest changes is happening at the former Rite Aid property at the corner of Burton and Breton. The pharmacy closed after Rite Aid’s bankruptcy troubles, and now part of that building is getting a completely different kind of tenant.

Chipotle is officially moving in!

When is New Grand Rapids Chipotle Opening?

There’s now signage up at 2410 Burton St. SE, along with a “now hiring” notice, which is usually a pretty good indicator that opening day is getting close. So I checked it out online. Google lists the new Grand Rapids Chipotle as openin June 2, 2026.

According to Crain’s Grand Rapids, the restaurant will take up 2,600 square feet of the roughly 11,000-square-foot building and will include a drive-thru. The remaining storefronts are expected to eventually house additional food or retail tenants…
