LOWELL, Mich. (WOOD) — A Lowell mother says she never thought she would fall for a scam, but after an hour and a half on the phone with someone claiming to be from the Kent County Sheriff’s Office, she was convinced she was about to be arrested and her kids could be taken from her.
“It was horrifying,” Taylor Rieth said. “It was very convincing.”
The call came Monday from a “No Caller ID” number. The caller told Rieth she had missed jury duty and a required court appearance, resulting in a warrant for her arrest. According to Rieth, the caller gave her two options: turn herself in or pay $9,000 in fines…
