Frontier Airlines launches $19 fares for new nonstop routes from Detroit, Grand Rapids

Frontier Airlines is adding two new nonstop routes from Detroit Metro Airport and a third to the Gerald R. Ford International Airport in Grand Rapids at a promotional price of $19, with upgrades to seats with premium, extra legroom costing another $19 per segment.

The Denver-based airline announced Tuesday that the new routes from Detroit Metro include four flights a week to Baltimore-Washington International Airport, beginning April 10, and four flights a week to Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, beginning April 22.

The new route out of the Grand Rapids airport will run three times a week to Dallas-Fort Worth and launches on May 16.

These fares come with some fine print: Tickets must be purchased by Jan. 25, and are valid through June 5. The fares apply to flights on Mondays through Thursdays and Saturdays. There are also blackout days. Baggage and advance seating assignments will cost more.

Frontier claims it is the most fuel-efficient of the major U.S. carriers. In addition to the new flights from Michigan, Frontier is also adding flights to airports across the country, from New York to Los Angeles and San Francisco to Miami. It is also adding routes at three airports in the Caribbean.
