Man convicted of 2022 Holland murder

ALLEGAN, Mich. (WOOD) — A man has been found guilty of shooting and killing another man at an apartment complex in Holland in 2022.

Thaddeus Cortrez Wilson was convicted Tuesday of first-degree murder in the death of Joseph Roberts, Holland police say.

The shooting happened on June 19, 2022, around 12:15 a.m. at an apartment complex on Lincoln Avenue near East 39th Street. Police say Roberts, 36, was shot multiple times following an argument. He died at the scene.

Murder, weapons and drugs charges were filed against Wilson the following month, but he was nowhere to be found and a reward was offered for information leading to his arrest. Wilson was ultimately arrested in Illinois in August 2022.

His trial started two weeks ago. A jury also found him guilty of four counts of felony firearm, possession with intent to deliver cocaine and meth and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Wilson faces a mandatory sentence of life in prison without the possibility parole for the first-degree murder conviction when he goes before a judge for sentencing on March 18.
