Meaty snow swath likely in a wide stripe across Lower Michigan

A fairly solid storm system is going to track across Michigan Thursday. It will bring a swath of accumulating snow to central and northern Lower Michigan. The snow will develop Thursday morning and reach peak intensity midday Thursday in a stripe from Grand Rapids to Flint/Saginaw and northward to Cadillac and Houghton Lake. Maybe we should call this a central Lower Michigan snowstorm. I think it’s OK to call it a snowstorm since snowfall rates could be one inch per hour for a few hours Thursday. We are also going to have 3 to 5 inches of snow in the heaviest swath.
