BATTLE CREEK, MI – A Jackson man will serve between three and 20 years in prison after pleading guilty for his role in a car theft and chop shop ring.
Josiah Capetillo, 24, was initially charged with eight felonies in connection with seven vehicle thefts in the summer of 2023 from the Chrysler Chelsea Proving Grounds, the Firekeepers Casino in Battle Creek, and dealerships in Rockford, Bay City, Schoolcraft Township and Wyoming, according to a statement from the Michigan attorney general’s office.
He pleaded guilty in December to one count of conducting a criminal enterprise before 37th Circuit Court Judge Sarah Lincoln in Calhoun County, according to court records. The same judge also sentenced him on March 13. His other charges were dismissed at sentencing…
