GRPS weighs displacing nearly 50 teachers, citing declining enrollment

GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Grand Rapids Public Schools is weighing the displacement of up to 47 teacher positions ahead of the 2026-27 school year.

The displaced positions could include special education, elementary, middle and high-school teachers at over a dozen GRPS schools, according to documents obtained by MLive/The Grand Rapids Press.
