Grand Rapids plans $28M project to reroute stormwater from treatment plant

GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Grand Rapids has a $28 million sewer separation project in the pipeline that will help prevent excess stormwater from overwhelming the city’s wastewater treatment facility.

The project will include approximately 3,000 feet of sewer separation on Godfrey Avenue, spanning from the Grand River to Oxford Street. A new large diameter storm sewer will be installed, replacing an aged 60-inch combined sewer, to route rainfall runoff to the Grand River rather than the water treatment plant.
