OTTAWA COUNTY, Mich. — A 26-year-old Traverse City man is facing multiple charges after stealing a pickup truck and leading Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) deputies on a chase through Chester and Crockery townships Saturday afternoon, intentionally ramming multiple vehicles along the way, according to the sheriff’s office.
Deputies were dispatched around 4 p.m. to the 2300 block of Crockery Shores Road in Chester Township after a man arrived at a home and stole a 2012 Ford F-250 from the driveway, according to authorities. OCSO said the suspect was unknown to the victim, a 65-year-old from Sparta, and fled northbound on 24th Ave. after taking the truck.
Deputies located the vehicle a short time later on Exchange Street in Spring Lake Village and attempted a traffic stop, but the suspect fled. The pursuit was eventually terminated as the suspect continued through Spring Lake Village, but the situation escalated when he allegedly intentionally rammed a civilian vehicle at N.
