ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. (WSBT) — A family has filed a lawsuit against a charter company and bus driver after they say the driver drank Fireball while taking students on a field trip in 2024.
Court documents obtained by WSBT 22 say North Wood High School choir students were heading to a field trip in Grand Rapids on May 26 when the driver, John Schmidt, seemed intoxicated.
They say Schmidt drove erratic, traveled 80 miles per hour in a 55 mile an hour zone, could not stay in one lane, and even hit traffic cones…
