The Acrisure Amphitheater Opens This Week and You Can Tour It for Free

People have been talking about it for years as this far-off thing that was eventually being built downtown in Grand Rapids. But then construction actually started, and suddenly you could see this UFO-looking structure every time you took the S-curve. Next thing you knew, the debut concert was announced for May 15th, AKA this Friday.

That’s right, the Acrisure Amphitheater is officially opening to the public this Friday with its debut concert, but not all of us have tickets to Lionel Ritchie or another concert sometime this summer. But maybe you still want to see what this multi-million dollar project looks like inside.

Well, this Saturday you can do just that for free and enjoy some local artists while you’re at it.

Acrisure Amphitheater Community Day

On May 16th, one day after the debut concert, the Amphitheater will open up to the public from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. for the Acrisure Amphitheater Community Celebration, celebrating the opening of what is now the city’s second-largest venue and what it will bring to the city.

The celebration does not require a ticket, but Acrisure strongly recommends getting one to “ensure entry”. It’s going to be a packed event, so if you want to guarantee you see the amphitheater, get a ticket here. There will be 6 different food trucks and local acts playing 4 different stages throughout the day (yes, there are actually four stages at the amphitheater).

According to the event page, collapsible or beach chairs that do not exceed 12″ from the ground to the bottom of the seat when unfolded will be permitted, as well as small blankets…
