Meet the Pulaski marching band representing Wisconsin for America 250

School has been out for weeks, but the music ringing out from the Pulaski High School marching band room on June 18 hasn’t missed a beat. A line of snare drums rat-tat-tat, bells sound out a melody and cymbals crash as students grab their instruments.

It’s early evening, and some students have worked on their feet all day. Some have played for years, others only a few weeks. But as high schoolers trickle in, tying running shoes and hefting instruments, they’re all preparing to wear the same red and black uniform to represent Pulaski on the national stage.

“Pain is temporary,” reads big, black bubble letters along one wall. “Marching band is forever!”…
