Winston-Salem man charged in hit-and-run that killed 5-year-old in High Point

HIGH POINT, N.C. (WGHP) — A man is in custody and charged following a hit-and-run crash that killed a 5-year-old boy last week, according to the High Point Police Department.

At around 5 p.m. on June 5, HPPD officers came to the intersection of East Russell Avenue and Hines Street after getting a report of a person lying in the road.

The HPPD, the High Point Fire Department and Guilford County EMS responded to the scene and found that five-year-old Luis Arriaza had been hit by a car that had left the scene.

The 5-year-old was taken to the hospital, where he later died as a result of his injuries.

On Monday, investigators identified the suspect vehicle as a 2015-2018 gray Ford Focus and released the following photo of the vehicle:
