Large sinkhole opens at corner of South Benbow Road, Perkins Street in Greensboro

GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) — A water main break in Greensboro led to a sinkhole on South Benbow Road, according to the City of Greensboro.

The water main broke shortly before 11:30 a.m., affecting about 10 water customers in the area. The sinkhole appeared at the corner of South Benbow Road and Perkins Street.

While crews worked to address the situation, officials closed the 500 block of South Benbow Road from East Washington Street to Cunningham Street, as well as the 300 block of Perkins Street, from South Booker Street to Logan Street. Drivers are urged to use alternate routes through the area…
