More than 3,200 citizens have lost power in the Piedmont Triad due to downed trees and power lines

PIEDMONT TRIAD, N.C. (WGHP) — More than 3,200 people in the Piedmont Triad have lost power due to downed trees and power lines caused by strong thunderstorms passing through the region Sunday afternoon.

The highest concentration of power loss is northwest of Greensboro, with 2, 000 outages reported. Heavy power outages have been reported southwest of Greensboro with 621, as well as just south of Pittsboro with 545.

Storms have weakened and are no longer causing problems.
