Strong thunderstorms moving east across central NC

A special weather statement was issued at 10:38 PM EDT for a cluster of strong thunderstorms moving east at 40 mph across central North Carolina. The storms were located from near Goldston to Pinehurst to 6 miles west of Rockingham.

Wind gusts may exceed 30 mph, which could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Areas affected include Fayetteville, Sanford, Laurinburg, Southern Pines, Rockingham, Raeford, Lillington, Carthage, Fort Bragg, and Pinehurst. This includes US 1 between mile markers 69 and 76 and Interstate 73 between mile markers 26 and 34
