FORSYTH COUNTY, N.C. — Forsyth County elected officials could see their 2026 terms cut in half under a state bill that advanced in the General Assembly on April 22.
The conference committee version of SB 214 states that members elected in 2026 to the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners and the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Board of Education would serve two-year terms instead of four. The bill also delays the planned staggering of school board terms until 2028.
