ALAMANCE, N.C. — A Graham man was arrested after investigators say he stole AT&T fiber optic cable from a neighborhood, causing a service outage before selling the copper wire inside to a recycling facility, according to the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded about 9:30 a.m. Wednesday to a larceny report in the 2500 block of Pinetop Avenue in Graham. A representative of AT&T told deputies the communication cable was believed to have been stolen during the early morning hours Tuesday. The company later received outage calls from residents in the area because of the missing cable.
During the investigation, detectives reviewed homeowners’ surveillance footage and identified a suspect. Investigators said the suspect later sold the copper wire from inside the cable at a local recycling facility…
