Spartanburg’s downtown is seeing “unprecedented” construction activity, as work is underway on the future city-county joint government complex and on several properties — a hotel, office building, and apartments along West Main and Broad streets — that are part of Project Core, a roughly $500 million economic development investment led by The Johnson Group.
The government building, a roughly $53 million project, is funded by the one-cent sales tax voters approved in 2017.
