YORK, Pa. — It was 1943 when the U.S.S. Dorchester was hit by a German torpedo and sank in the North Atlantic Ocean on its way to Greenland.
Of the 902 souls on board, more than 600 people died. Among the dead were four chaplains of different faiths, including Rabbi Alexander Goode of York County.
