YORK, Pa. — There are plenty of warnings out there about the dangers of vaping, and one expert with UPMC says teens are most at risk.
“There’s no definite evidence that vaping is safer than cigarette smoke. It can cause acute damage to the lung,” said Dr. Santosh Nepal, a pulmonologist at UPMC.
How it causes that damage, however, is still not fully understood. Nepal says what they do know, however, is that vaping devices contain multiple components, including batteries, heating elements and chemical liquids, all of which can pose risks to the lungs…
