West Nile Virus detected in York County, 8 other counties in Pennsylvania

YORK COUNTY, Pa. (WHP) — A mosquito carrying West Nile Virus has been found in York County, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.

A map shared by the DEP shows five of the nine counties with at least one mosquito found carrying the virus are located north of Dauphin County, with two centered around Pittsburgh, and one more north of Philadelphia.

Currently, DEP data suggests that the virus has not been passed on to any humans. The DEP noted that immunocompromised individuals and people over the age of 50 are more at risk of getting the virus.
