Harrisburg, PA — A new law in Pennsylvania signed July 20 by Gov. Josh Shapiro (D) permits emergency roadside vehicles to be equipped with one or more flashing or revolving blue lights.
Rep. Robert Freeman (D-Northampton), sponsor of H.B. 1830, said in a press release that the law applies to light-duty service trucks that are assisting motorists.
In 2023, legislation allowed tow trucks to use blue lights to improve roadside visibility. Before that, blue lights were only allowed on volunteer firefighter vehicles or in combination with red lights on law enforcement and coroner’s office vehicles…
