Boy attacked by San Carlos transient man after checking on his welfare: DA

(KRON) — A 40-year-old transient man allegedly attacked a 15-year-old boy outside a Walgreens store in San Carlos on Monday after the boy asked the man if he needed food, according to the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office.

Ming Yuan Li was charged with felony counts of corporal injury to a child and assault by means likely to produce great bodily injury. He also faces a misdemeanor count of assault.

The boy was in front of the Walgreens at a bus stop on El Camino Real when he saw Li on the sidewalk and “asked him if everything was alright and whether he needed some food,” prosecutors said. Li told the boy no, and the boy asked if he was sure.

At that time, the DA’s office said Li began to attack the teen and punched him multiple times in the ear, face and mouth. During the alleged assault, prosecutors said Li yelled “various epithets” at the boy…
