Coast Guard Helicopter Crashes in Alaska, Four Crew Hurt in Training Flight

A Coast Guard MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crashed near Harbor Mountain in Sitka, Alaska, on Monday, injuring all four crew members aboard. Fortunately, no fatalities were reported.

Rescue teams reached the crash site around 11 a.m., roughly an hour after the incident, and quickly transported the injured crew to Mt. Edgecumbe Medical Center. The extent of their injuries has not yet been disclosed.

“The safety, well-being, and rescue of our crew members is our absolute, immediate priority,” the Coast Guard stated on its official social media channel.

Petty Officer Ashly Murphy confirmed that the crash occurred during a routine training flight. An investigation into the cause of the crash is underway.

This accident comes amid a recent series of serious aviation incidents nationwide. Earlier this month, a business jet crashed on a highway in Laredo, Texas, resulting in one fatality.

A B-52 bomber crashed during a test flight at Edwards Air Force Base in California on June 15, killing all eight crew members. Additionally, a skydiving plane crash in Missouri on June 14 claimed the lives of 12 people.
