Suspected driver in crash that killed CCSD teacher may have been street racing: Las Vegas police

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A man faces reckless driving charges after a high-speed crash left a CCSD teacher dead and his wife injured, according to a police arrest report obtained by 8 News Now.

Police said the crash happened around 11:33 a.m. on May 22 near Boulder Highway and Desert Horizons Drive, just south of Russell Road.

Several witnesses called 911 to report the crash that morning. When police arrived, the minivan that the couple was in was turned on its side, “trapping the people inside” the vehicle, according to a police arrest report obtained by 8 News Now.

Police also said 28-year-old Zachary Zwick drove at a “high rate of speed” and collided into the minivan Jeff Buchbaum was driving as he was turning left onto Boulder Highway. Buchbaum’s wife, Jennifer Boske, was also injured in the crash as a passenger in the car.

Zwick was treated by medical personnel on scene as the couple was being extricated from the minivan…
