Meteorological summer begins Monday, June 1, and a new analysis suggests Reno’s summers are becoming hotter than those experienced by previous generations.
Climate Central found Reno has seen 68 more hotter-than-normal summer days since 1970, the largest increase among 243 U.S. cities analyzed. Those days are defined as having average temperatures above local seasonal norms.
The analysis examined summer temperatures from June through August between 1970 and 2025 using data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
