LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — With a new Louis Vuitton shopping bag in the backseat, a Las Vegas tourist parked her car at Pho 7 for dinner. After sitting down, the Vietnamese cuisine owner rushed out to the dining room and pointed to a thief outside the window. The bag was gone in 20 seconds.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has received 597 reports of thefts of motor vehicles so far in 2026, making 17 arrests in the Chinatown area, LVMPD’s Spring Valley Area Command. The number is nearly double that of the other Las Vegas police area commands, including Summerlin and Downtown Las Vegas, according to police records.
“It’s a very big problem,” Terry Nong, part owner of Pho-7 Vietnamese Cuisine, said. “Every month there’s couple of times around this small plaza, and at least once a week.”
Nong said Chinatown has become a haven to delicious food and entertainment, but he is forced to tell his customers if they have luggage in their car to bring it into the restaurant…
