LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A 26-year-old Las Vegas man arrested in a hit-and-run crash that killed a skateboarder on June 5 has a prior DUI on his record, according to prosecutors in the case.
Elijah Malone appeared in court on Friday. He is currently charged with failure to stop at the scene of an accident. A judge reduced Malone’s bail from $200,000 to $100,000 after his attorney argued that he tried to turn himself in on June 8. The attorney said that shows Malone is not a flight risk.
Malone works as a manager at Walmart, his attorney said, and he risks losing his job if bail is set too high. When the judge reduced bail, he also restricted Malone’s driving privileges — to and from work, only.
The crash occurred June 5 on Oso Blanca Road near Elkhorn Road in the northwest valley.
