County, homeowners continue struggles with homeless issues

LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Neighborhoods west of the Resort Corridor along I-15 continue to look for ways to manage a homeless population which includes those dealing with addiction. Among them, Kevin Child, a real estate agent who serves as a property manager for several shopping plazas in the area.

“We have a couple shopping centers that we do in the area,” Child said, “and the problem is that we have all these people that are on drugs and that are mentally ill. They defecate, they urinate, they mess with the tenants, they break in, they make a mess out of the garbage cans. It costs us 1000s of dollars every month.”

Child says he frequently reports the activity and trespassing to LVMPD, but officers can only do so much, and it continues to be a frustrating cycle…
