LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A special education teacher is facing criminal charges after police said she used force against one student, which caused an injury that required stitches, and hit another student.
Clark County School District police arrested Dina Fanella, a special education teacher at Rex Bell Elementary School, and a longtime Nevada educator, according to records. The principal informed police that both children are nonverbal and have autism, according to an arrest report obtained by the 8 News Now Investigators.

A timeline described in the arrest report revealed that police and parents and/or guardians were not immediately notified of the alleged incidents. The principal told police that he received conflicting information, which caused him to question what exactly happened, and that staff did not take photographs of the alleged injuries, the report stated.
