Boulder City responds to report of illegal ‘rat dumping’

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Boulder City crews worked to find all the rats which were illegally dumped over the weekend at the Veterans Memorial Park. Following a neighborhood reaction, some of the city hall’s cheddar was used to find where the rodents ended up.

Lisa LaPlante, communications manager for Boulder City, said the city received a report of a woman dropping off either a crate or a cage with rats inside of it in the general vicinity of Veterans Memorial Park, one of the 17 maintained city parks.

“We don’t know how many; we just know that somebody witnessed it and contacted us and had some concerns,” she said. “Our crews have been out here. They’ve been scouring the area to make sure that the that any animals, any rodents, didn’t get into the concessions area.”

So far so good, according to LaPlante, as no rodents were found in the ballpark’s concession area. She reiterated that neighbors need to know how dangerous it is to illegally dump rodents in a public area…
