LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A man facing a charge of murder in connection with a recent deadly shooting said he acted in self-defense.

Andrew Avalos, 21, of Las Vegas, was in court Wednesday morning, where his attorney requested a preliminary hearing that would determine if there was enough evidence to transfer his client’s case from justice court to district court.
Avalos turned himself in to authorities just days after he said he shot and killed Kyle Prows, 30.
The incident happened on the night of September 21 in a parking lot of a townhome community off Harmon Avenue, between Koval Lane and Paradise Road.
