LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Spirit Airlines announced Saturday it laid off 999 workers based at Harry Reid International Airport amid plans to permanently end the company’s operations.
After a failed effort to secure a $500 million federal bailout, Spirit Airlines announced Saturday it would wind down operations effective immediately. The budget carrier filed a notice announcing it would also fire 999 employees based at Harry Reid International Airport.
“We regret that we are not able to give you more notice of your layoff,” the airline said. “We were not able to do so because the company was actively seeking capital to avoid these layoffs and closures and notice would have precluded the company from obtaining the capital needed.”…
