LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – A Las Vegas couple is scrambling to get back on their feet one week after Spirit Airlines ceased operations.
Shantelle Velarde is eight months pregnant and has been with Spirit Airlines since 2022 as a flight attendant. Through a work friend, she met and began dating Victor Zambrano, who had been with Spirit Airlines in 2015.
Velarde scribed hearing the news of Spirit Airlines shutting down on May 2nd.

“Everything was coming in. ‘No medical insurance,’ and I’m eight months pregnant. I have a doctor’s appointment this week. What am I supposed to do? How are we supposed to have a baby?” Velarde said. “And all of a sudden this happens. And it’s not just us, it’s everybody. We’re not the only ones with medical health issues that need health insurance. It’s thousands of people in this company.”…
