LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A wallaby trio is calling Las Vegas home after an Australian TikTok influencer donated the marsupials to the Gilcrease Nature Sanctuary, and it looks like one joey is expecting.
James Thompson, a social media influencer and award-winning violinist, brought two of his three wallabies to the Gilcrease Nature Sanctuary on Friday morning as part of the newest exhibit for the Las Vegas nonprofit.
Jackie, 2, and Baby, 1, hopped around their new home overlooking the duck pond as their male counterpart, Skippy, 3, received routine medical treatment Friday morning.
The Bennet’s wallabies, sometimes called red-necked wallabies, were previously California residents of Thompson. He said after moving to Las Vegas, he wanted a place where school children could learn and appreciate the Australian marsupial.
