Gunfire Rocks Miami Gardens Block, Sends One To Trauma Center

Gunfire shattered the quiet of a Miami Gardens neighborhood early Tuesday, sending one person to a trauma center and kicking off a fresh police investigation near the 17300 block of Northwest 36th Avenue.

Neighbors told reporters they heard a burst of gunshots before emergency crews flooded the street. First responders confirmed a victim was taken from the scene, but authorities have not released that person’s condition as detectives work an active investigation.

According to Local 10, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue transported one person from the scene to a trauma center. A reporter at the scene said neighbors described hearing multiple shots, and fire officials referred further questions to the Miami Gardens Police Department, calling the situation a “police matter.”

Investigation status

Per Local 10, police have not released any suspect information, and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue has deferred additional questions to the Miami Gardens Police Department. The station said it has reached out to the department for comment and is waiting for a response.
