Honolulu Police Seek Public’s Help in Identifying Suspect in Vicious Chemical Attack

HONOLULU, HI — In a disturbing turn of events, Honolulu police have intensified their manhunt for a suspect involved in a brutal chemical attack that occurred near Ala Moana Center, leaving a 25-year-old woman critically injured.

The Honolulu Police Department has released surveillance video and photographs of the suspect in an effort to solicit public assistance in locating him. The images capture the suspect fleeing the scene on foot, and later, he is seen riding a bicycle without a shirt.

The suspect is described as a man in his 20s, around 5-foot-8, and weighing approximately 160 pounds. During the time of the attack, he was wearing a black hooded jacket, a face mask, and camouflage pants. His current whereabouts remain unknown, and he is considered at large.

The chemical assault, which took place around 9:20 p.m. near 1450 Ala Moana Blvd., resulted in severe injuries to the victim. The unknown chemical caused her skin and clothes to burn. In a desperate bid for help, the victim ran into a nearby Planet Fitness gym, where bystanders assisted in treating her burns with water until Honolulu Emergency Medical Services arrived. The victim was able to communicate with first responders initially, indicating the severity of her condition.
