Coastal flood statement gets short extension, now in effect until Monday night

It looks as though coastal flooding will remain possible for at least a short time longer Monday, May 18, as the National Weather Service forecast office in Honolulu extended a coastal flood statement for the entire state through tonight.

The flood statement was originally issued to be in effect through this afternoon.

Peak monthly high tides combined with higher-than-predicted water levels will lead to isolated minor flooding along shorelines and in low-lying coastal areas, likely most possible near daily peak high tides, which are forecast during the late afternoon hours…
